On September 16-22, we celebrate the European Week of Sustainable Transport 2021. Many attractions and surprises are planned. Registration is required for some of the events. Participation in the events is free of charge. Check for yourself!

European Mobility Week 2021

SEPTEMBER 16-22, 2021 „Safe and healthy thanks to sustainable mobility”.

The European Mobility Week is an initiative of the European Commission, aimed at encouraging city dwellers to change their unhealthy habits and choose alternative, ecological means of travel.

The campaign runs from 16 to 22 September each year. It aims to promote sustainable transport in cities and municipalities and to change the mobility behaviour of residents.

This year's celebrations of the European Mobility Week in Lublin are carried out as part of the project "MOVE IT like Lublin - an initiative for sustainable development of public transport in Chisinau" (MOVE IT like Lublin - a Chisinau public transport sustainable development initiative) co-financed by the European Union. This year, the campaign is to motivate all former and future participants to join the 20th edition of event with the catchphrase "Safe and healthy thanks to sustainable mobility".

The choice of topic is a tribute to hard times that Europe - and the world - suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also a reflection on the possibilities for change resulting from this unprecedented health crisis observed in Europe. Cities and regions are encouraged to maintain impulse observed in the past year, such as increased active mobility and the use of low- or zero-emission mobility.

Moreover, people are encouraged to maintain a good physical and mental condition, and to care for the environment and the health of others when choosing a means of transport.

This year, nearly 2,200 cities participate in the campaign. Lublin has been actively involved for over 12 years in the Europe-wide campaign.

September 16, 2021 (Thursday)

12:00-17:00 – ZTM Information Point in Lublin (handing out an agenda, providing information, promotion of the new Lubika System), pl. Teatralny 1 at CSK in Lublin.

September 17, 2021 (Friday)

9.30-13.30 Visiting the trolleybus depot is an attraction prepared by ZTM in Lublin together with the city carrier - MPK Lublin, included in the programme of the event.

On Friday - September 17, 2021 at 10.00, 11.00 and 12.00 public transport enthusiasts are invited to a free tour of the trolleybus depot. It will be a great opportunity to get to know venue of trolleybuses "from behind the scenes". The modern depot was commissioned in April 2015. The investment project included, among others: a service and repair station with a car wash and a paint shop that serve as a fully equipped workshop. The depot is adapted to handle 100 trolleybuses and 25 technical support vehicles. In addition, the participants will be able to see the electric buses delivered by Solaris.

Free-of-charge bus line will provide access back and forth to the depot. The bus will depart from Plac Wolności stop at 9:35, 10:35, 11:35 and will not stop at intermediate stops. After the tour, the bus will take the participants to Plac Wolności 01 busstop.

Participation in the depot tour will require advance booking. We have prepared small gifts for all participants visiting the depot.

September 18, 2021 (Saturday)

Rides in classic bus and trolleybus - the debut of a Skoda vehicle

The trolleybus and bus will depart from the Brama Krakowska 03 stop at ul. Lubartowska at: 14:00, 15:00, 16:00 and 17:00.

On the route, the vehicles will pass many monuments and places important for the history of Lublin, and the guide will tell the passengers about the objects that can be seen outside the window. Members of the Lublin Society for Ecological Communication will talk about the history of these vehicles. The ride will take approximately 45 minutes.

On the "T" line, all types and prices of tickets as well as entitlements to free and concessionary travel apply in accordance with the current tariff and the applicable resolution and applicable laws. Regular and discounted 30-minute time tickets will be available from the conductor at PLN 3.20 and PLN 1.60.

September 19, 2021 (Sunday)

Communication Picnic „Safe and healthy thanks to sustainable mobility".

Presentation of public transport vehicles (including the latest Solaris Urbino 12 electric bus, vintage vehicles, trolleybuses), workshops and games for children, a medical zone, including first aid, a blood collection point, as well as educational lessons and competitions with prizes - these are just some of the attractions we have prepared for passengers of Lublin public transport and the inhabitants of Lublin. The picnic will take place on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Zamkowy Square near the Castle.

On that day, Zamkowy Square will turn into a mini-depot, it will also become a centre of entertainment and fun for children. There will be numerous animations, eco-workshops and workshops with experiments. There will also be a circus stand where everyone will be able to learn ball juggling and perform magic tricks.

In addition, a mobile blood collection point will be set up on Zamkowy Square to donate blood on honorary basis. The area will turn into a medical zone where you will be able to take a quick first aid course, analyze your body or undergo diagnostics of diseases (blood sugar level measurement, blood pressure, etc.)

During the picnic, you will be able to see, among others: the latest vehicle from Solaris – the Solaris Urbino 12 electric bus. It is a modern and ecological solution for urban transport.

The family picnic is held under the Honorary Patronage of Mayor of Lublin

Outdoor classes on how to ride a bike safely around the city on September 19, 2021 at 12.00-18.00. It will be organised in 3 rounds, in groups of up to 10 people.

30 people are expected to participate in total. Single lessons will last 100 minutes (each round of classes). Zamkowy Square in Lublin will be the assembly point. Registration will be required.

There will be a 20-minute break between rounds. Younger participants (up to 18 years of age) are required to have a valid bicycle card.

September 20, 2021 (Monday)

Educational lessons in Świdnik

ZTM together with MPK will conduct attractive educational lessons on a safe of public transport usage for groups of children (9-13 - 4 groups - 45 minutes of lessons and 15 minutes of break) in front of the trolleybus located near one of the schools in Świdnik

September 21, 2021 (Tuesday)

On September 21, 2021 at 9.00-15.00 there will be "Safe passenger" lessons, i.e. on safe use of public transport, road and bicycle traffic. This is a follow-up of the project that is organised as part of the celebration of European Sustainable Transport Week.

1. ZTM together with MPK will conduct attractive educational lessons on safe public transport usage.

2. Police officers from the Road Traffic Department of the Police Headquarters in Lublin will conduct, as part of a preventive action plan, theoretical knowledge and practical skill classes on bicycle education, mainly safe cycling on roads.

Organiser: Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre "Bystrzyca" in Lublin, Public Transport Authority in Lublin, Municipal Transport Company in Lublin and Municipal Police Headquarters in Lublin.

The number of participants is limited, registration is on a first come, first served basis.

All activities as part of the action will be carried out in compliance with safety rules and in accordance with the guidelines established during the coronavirus epidemic. Classes will be held outdoor, in a non-contact method.

September 22, 2021 (Wednesday) World Car Free Day

Free rides

Pursuant to the current Resolution of the Lublin City Council, during "Car Free Day", free rides can be available upon presentation of a valid car registration certificate

On Wednesday (September 22), a valid registration ceretificate entitles one person to travel free of charge on all public transport lines organised by ZTM in Lublin.

09:00-15:00 – Consultation and information point of ZTM in Lublin, Łokietek Square, next to the Town Hall
